On the occasion of the completion of the improvement works carried out on its routes, La Sella Golf held on November 20, a game that pitted the professionals José María Olazábal y Jose Manuel Carriles, both closely linked to the club since its inception. In this match, the new facilities, more technological, sustainable and competitive, adapted to current times, were shown.

It was a double celebration, since on November 20, 1990 La Sella Golf was opened, and it so happens that it was they, Olazábal and Carriles, who participated in the opening game of the club.

During the presentation that was held early in the morning, both recognized that “although we do not recognize each other in the photos that hang in these places for 31 years, because of how young we were -Olazábal was only 21 years old-, we have the same illusion of the first day".

The designer, Olazábal, stressed that currently the entire irrigation system is much more measured and digitized, and that the great challenge has been to change the variety of grass in an integral way to varieties more resistant to the salinity of the waters of the treatment plant that water this facility.
On several occasions, he thanked the Board of Directors for undertaking these improvements in times of the Pandemic, while continuing to look into the long term, with courage and patience.

Luis Iglesias, Chairman of the Board of Directors of La Sella Golf, thanked Olazábal for the excellent design work and insisted that only quality and sustainability can make us a solid destination throughout the 12 months of the year and not only in summer season. "We want the region to be able to offer the best possible services to become a benchmark for national and international tourists," said the president.
In the same sense, the president of Aehtma and member of Cehe, Cristina Sellés, stressed: "Golf is the perfect complement to the gastronomy, climate, nature and benefits of La Marina Alta, helping to seasonally adjust visits and increase the profile of clients”.

The most emotional part came from the voice of the professionals, José Manuel Carriles, as a professional in the field said: "Pedreña is my home and La Sella is my home." The Dam Wheel ended with a direct message from Olazábal to Pepe Bañó, creator of this project in the 80s: "Pepe, we have achieved it, La Sella is the best course in the Mediterranean."

Later, and respecting the rain until hole 18, Carriles and Olazábal played a very even game, accompanied by a large group of partners and friends, where they had the opportunity to see the changes on the field. Finally, Carriles won the game that ended with a big hug and a cocktail with the members on the terrace of the clubhouse.
