- More than a hundred elite players are preparing for four days of competition on one of the most prestigious courses in the Mediterranean.
The well-known Alicante field of La Sella Golf has celebrated the official opening of its first Open. An important quote from Ladies European Tour 2023 which will bring together, over the next four days, the best golf players in the world and which -beyond the sporting result- has already made history in Spanish golf, by becoming the women's tournament with the highest prize pool in our country : 1.000.000€.
The opening ceremony of the tournament, held yesterday afternoon, was a success and was full of emotions. The players, their caddies and family members, together with numerous golf professionals, attended this official welcome party for La Sella Open .
To celebrate such a special occasion, an informal cocktail was offered next to the hotel pool Denia Marriott La Sella Golf Resort & Spa, enlivened by flamenco music. In a relaxed and celebratory atmosphere, the attendees enjoyed a great evening; and the players for a moment of relaxation and fun before the great battle that will measure them, from July 20 to 23, on the challenging course of La Sella.
Carlos Garcia, director of La Sella Golf, was in charge of welcoming the hundred elite players registered in this test and the true protagonists of a tournament that marks a milestone in the women's golf when trying to equate the economic amounts of the prizes in women's competitions in relation to those of men.
During the event, the tournament director, Joao Pinto, delivered a commemorative plaque to La Sella Golf as the official venue for the tournament, highlighting the outstanding role of this Spanish course in supporting women's golf.
This recognition adds to the rich history of La Sella as the venue for important international women's competitions, such as the Women's European Golf Cup held for four consecutive years, from 2008 to 2011, and the Orientation Days for new LET players, in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018. The suitability of its facilities and its route of great technical quality and scenic beauty, recently renovated, have earned La Sella Golf to become a reference field for high competition. As the LET Tournament Director pointed out at the official opening ceremony of La Sella Open , "La Sella Golf is a first class facility, and this prestigious course will present great challenges and rewards to the players who compete this week."
The mayor of Dénia, Mr. Vicente Grimalt, and the president of the Valencian Golf Federation, Mr. Juan Painter. Both showed their support for this tournament that was born in the Valencian Community, to break into the professional circuit with force.

- Wednesday 19 of July: Official training.
- Thursday 20 of July: First day of competition.
- Friday July 21: Second day of competition and cut.
- Saturday July 22: Third day of competition.
- Sunday July 23: Last day of competition and awards ceremony.
