Quality and variety It is the path chosen by the Department of Culture in one of the most consolidated cultural events of the calendar in Dénia: the festival Music Castell, which this year celebrates its twenty-seventh edition, and does so in the wake of last year, with parallel activities for a whole week.
The 27 Music Festival at Castell de Dénia will be held del 16 al 21 de julio with a luxury programming. On the main stage, the esplanade of the Governador del Dénia Castle, Nes, cantaora Carmen Linares and orchestra Boban Markovic Orkestar, a last-minute change after Romania's Fanfare Ciocarlia metal band suspended their tour of Spain.
Those responsible for opening the performances, the 19 of July, will be the trio Nes, formed by the singer and cellist Nesrine Belmokh, Matthieu Saglio, cello and sampler and the percussionist David Gadea. Nes will present his first album at the festival, Ahlam.
The cantaora Carmen Linares performs in Música al Castell the 20 of July presenting Verse to verse, his tribute to the poet Miguel Hernández, with accompaniment of guitar, dance, choirs and palmas. Linares is considered the most important woman's voice in flamenco of the last quarter of the century.
The Boban Markovic Orkestar, from Serbia, is an international projection band composed of twelve musicians led by trumpet player Boban Markovic. His music is defined by his own role in the gypsy lineage, although he also draws on other musical and cultural backgrounds. She is also known for playing and acting in several films by Emil Kusturica. They will play the 21 for July.
All concerts will start at 23 hours. The ticket price is 15 euros for concerts by Carmen Linares and Fanfare Ciocarlia and 10 euros for Nes. You can also buy a subscription for 35 euros for the three performances. Tickets are already available in Instant Ticket and, from the 1 in July, will be on sale at the Dénia Tourism offices in the Plaza del Consell and in the Plaza del Oculista Buigues. In addition, concert days can be purchased at the castle box office in the two hours prior to the performance.
Supplementary programming
To the concerts on the main stage there are free concerts in the Valgamediós square, Off Festival, and music in the streets to promote the performances.
The Off festival presents the performances of the Colla Xirimitab's de Xàbia the 17 from July to the 21: 00 hours; and the cantaor d'estil Josep Aparicio Water, the 18 of July to the 23: 00 hours.
And so that the atmosphere of the festival reaches all corners of the city, performances and parades of Valencian and festive popular music have been programmed in the streets of the center, by Dénia and the region.
The 16 of July, from 20 to 22: 30 hours, will make the pasacalle Ondarattack. Fem Band, of the Musical Artistic Group of Dénia, will do the 19 and 20 of July, between the 11 and the 13.30 hours and the Colla The Xareta the 21 of July will act, at the same time tomorrow.
