01 December 2017 - 06: 45

The Institut d'Estudis Comarcals de la Marina Alta (IECMA), will pay homage this Friday, December 1, to Josep Ivars Pérez by naming him an honorary member of the entity. Josep Ivars is an architect and one of the people who has worked the most in many fields of study and knowledge about the Marina Alta in the last 30 years.

The churches and hermitages of Pego, Teulada, Dénia, La Xara, Xaló, Pedreguer, or El Verger are some of the examples of their dedication to the study of the architectural heritage of the region, with contributions that today we consider fundamental for the novelty and depth of the research works.

His study on the castle de Dénia, recently published, is the most important that has been done on this important fortress of the city. To plans, photos, sketches, documents, etc. that appear accompanies a rigorous investigation that provides a vast knowledge that until now was not within our reach.

The catalog of publications of Josep Ivars is very extensive; from the first book The Xara, a poble of the 19th century (1982), published in collaboration with Ricard Pérez, until the last The castle of Dénia (2016) there is a large amount of architecture, ethnography and history studies. Ivars has collaborated assiduously with magazines Aguaits, Canelobre, magazines of festivals and cultural associations of the Marina Alta, catalogs of exhibitions, etc.

Josep Ivars has been a founding member and member of the Governing Board of the IECMA, and his participation in the Congresses of Studies of the Marina Alta has always been constant and outstanding.
