Historical government in Dénia: Compromís and PSPV agree to distribute the Mayor's Office

09 June 2023 - 11: 00

The government of Dénia for the next four years has already been decided. 24 hours ago everything was still in the air and everything seemed possible. But last night came the long-awaited announcement of an agreement to stabilize the City Council, avoiding minority government. The only thing left to know was the terms of said agreement, which those involved had reserved for a joint press call that took place this Friday.

Compromís has agreed to sit with PSPV and work to create a progressive government in Dénia. A new opportunity after a 2015 Acord del Castell with which they were not completely satisfied. However, they assume that the electoral result indicates that the neighbors are betting on coalition governments, and that seeing the "reactionary wave" that has been carried out with institutions all over the map, as they point out, they feel in the duty to protect the progressive policies and what has been achieved with the Govern del Botànic. With the "wind against" this time, yes, because the links with the ministries no longer have them.

But the objective of Compromís with this agreement, above all, is to come out stronger and to be allowed to manage and carry out their policies at the same time that their work and achievements are recognized. This has been key to signing the current agreement, with which Vicent Grimalt He will continue to be mayor of Dénia for the next few years, counting in his government with Rafa Carió, as vice mayor, María José García y Valen Alcala, the councilors of Compromís. But, in what positions?

Carrió will replace Grimalt as mayor in the final stretch of the legislature

The most important thing, and that was already being rumored: the Mayor's Office is going to be distributed. During the first three years, Vicent Grimalt will be the mayor of the city, as up to now. But senior year, from the week of May 28, 2026, it will be Rafa Carrió Whoever takes the mayor's baton, closing the legislature. This distribution of three and one is due, as Grimalt has pointed out, to the proportion of representatives of each formation.

It is still unknown how the departments will be distributed, since they are still under negotiation, but they already anticipated that they will surely be maintained throughout the four years, without the change of mayor affecting them. "They are not going to take councilors for taking them," said Carrió who defended that there would be no personalities when reaching agreements.

Above all, "it will be a government that looks after the people", the protagonists have indicated at the press conference that took place under the town hall to present the new agreement. Both parties have appeared together, satisfied and grateful both for this first result of the agreement and for the understanding of their militants and that of their new partners. In addition, they have assumed that it is not particularly difficult to cross the programs of both parties, but there is still a lot to be specified.

An agreement that seems beneficial for both parties and possibly the best way out that Compromís had as owner of the key to the city, which needed the visibility and recognition that this last year of command will give it. In this way, and with still many doubts to resolve, Dénia will be a Botanic on a smaller scale, but paradoxically it will not have a Botanical in the Generalitat that supports them. It will be a progressive government with much to prove, and also many external impediments.

Does he want to say the idiocies that Pam de Podemos says

    Good afternoon

I am one of those people who pay taxes to the Denia town hall and cannot vote
They taught me that whoever contributes to a group has the right to have an opinion.
Since I cannot vote at the polls, I will give my opinion in this means of communication.
It seems very good to me that the PSOE and Compromís have reached an agreement to govern Denia, that Mr. Grimalt and Mr. Cario are going to be mayors of Denia
But first, I would like to know what your program is, how the problem of infrastructures, communications, quality of employment, social housing, etc. will be solved.
I want cats that hunt mice and I don't care about the color of the cat

  3. Bernard says:

What a SHAME, Mr. Carrio, what a SHAME!
Is it because of the SALARY?
Never again vote for your party.

  4. Dani says:

    Spain is not good.
Of course, so much son of a bitch does not surprise me.
Vox, Spanish Falange, Independentistas, Holy Week bringing together Franco supporters, bullfights, Alterne clubs, drugs, soccer with Neo-Nazis….
You have to send this country to hell.
This no longer has a remedy.
    And Denia is no exception.
And it's a shame because it's the best town in Spain.
The fault lies with the people of Madrid who have invoked Belcebu.
They have poisoned the country with Ouija boards, Sects and Spiritism Rituals.
    Falangists!
Now it will take a war to refound this country.
Denia has to be the epicenter of the revolution.
We must transform Spain into the Spanish United States.
Build skyscrapers in Seville, Malaga, Zaragoza, Murcia….
Tough laws against bullying, death penalty….
Subsidies to go to private health.
    Malls, Las Vegas-style cities.
Remove the bulls and soccer and replace it with the Spanish NBA.
And Holy Week with festivals, concerts and a fair.
Denia does not deserve Vox, nor PP, much less Compromis.
Long live the Spanish United States!

Mr. Carrió, I did not vote for you, I had my doubts, but now you leave me alone.
His ambition leads him to forget how those "outdated progressives" ignored Compromís from 2015 to 2019, and how they cornered him when they had an absolute majority.
His ambition leads him to agree on behalf of a left-wing progressive taking as a banner a Botanic that the Valencian Society has banished forever.
You already know how Mr. Grimalt and his henchmen spend it, but still you support them… incredible!
I think that your reading of the electoral results is very different from the reality of what the people ask of you.
It is true that he has managed to "not be a complement to anyone", he has managed to be once again the rag doll of the outdated nationalist left.
And worst of all, in the middle of Denia and its poor citizens condemned to pay taxes to maintain their misrule and not obtain the benefits they deserve.
    Shameful

  6. Thor says:

How scary that these people govern, it is a very dangerous extreme, bildu partners, communists and independentistas.
All over the country they have been removed and in this town hall they earn, incredible. But that's the way democracy is and we have to accept it, but hard times are coming with these people in the institutions.
Every day more occupations and the streets more dangerous, these people look more for the criminal than for the worker and worker who only remember to raise taxes and distribute them in their unions, friends and beach bars. What a shame of society

  7. chantal je says:

It is a shame that they manipulate the votes, that is not democracy. Most have not chosen to have such an underrepresented mayor. Even if it's for a year. That is manipulating the votes and democracy. That it can be done does not mean that it is lawful

    • Roc says:

That it is not lawful (for you) does not mean that it is manipulation.

      • chantal je says:

It is obvious that it is not lawful and it is a manipulation to play, and join and disjoint the votes. Democracy means the representation of the majority, the committed ones do not represent any majority, maybe you like the ppsoe more or less. But this is manipulated blackmail resulting in partisan gain. I'm not going to explain it to you Roc, if you don't want it to be a manipulation it won't be nice. But look to see the % of vote that takes commitment to be mayor, handsome
