Like every May 31, Dénia joins the global celebration of Tobacco Free Day. The departments of Social Welfare and Health of the municipality of Dénia, together with the AECC and the Public Health Center have joined forces to raise awareness of the importance of tobacco harm and prevent its consumption.
This year we want to make a special impact on raising awareness among the youngest, since it has been detected that many young people start in the habit before the 12 years. Therefore throughout the day information sessions will be held at the three Dénia institutes, distributing printed material with the benefits of not smoking.
In addition, from the 9 to the 14 hours, an information tent will be installed on Diana Street and in the afternoon, at 19 hours, a conference has been organized by the psychologist Javier Murcia at the headquarters of the Gavilà Ferrer Foundation. Subsequently, a dialogue will be established with the public in which Carmen Romero and Encarna Cáceres, from UPCCA, and Mª Teresa Abad, from Public Health of Dénia will also participate. Guitarist Hugo Moltó will star in a musical performance to complement the talk-colloquium.
The day of the World Tobacco Day was presented by the councilors of Marcela Sever City Hall and Pepa SiveraThe senior technician of the Center for Public Health Dénia, Mª Teresa Abad; the president of the local assembly of the AECC, Pablo Segarra; and the technician Unit Community Prevention in Addictive Behaviors (UPCCA) Town Hall of Dénia, embodies Caceres.
