The Public Health Center began operating in Dénia year 1989 with units Hygiene and Food Safety, Epidemiological Surveillance, Health Promotion and Programs Laboratory of Public Health and Environmental Health. In 1995 the Occupational Health Unit was incorporated, and Prevention of Breast Cancer in 1998.
This building was initially located the Directorate of Primary Care and Mental Health Units and Family Counseling, moved to its current premises in 1999 and 2009 respectively.
The aim of this center is to improve the health of the population through food control and canteens, health education at school and at work, vaccinations, early diagnosis of breast cancer and, from 2006, the colon, control supplies and drinking water networks, security and control of chemical biocides and pesticides, monitoring of occupational diseases, interventions to outbreaks or food poisoning.
Currently, the Public Health Center serves Dénia monitoring and reporting of public health; Food safety; Promotion and Prevention and Prevention Breast Cancer (UPCM).
This center has no emergency department.
