A trip to the origin of rice production to celebrate the V Forum «Arròs a Banda, A Banda de l'Arròs»

November 24 from 2017 - 16: 37

That rice is one of the star products of our kitchen is well known to all. But its origin, especially in the Marina Alta, it is not so much. Thats why he V Fòrum Arròs a Banda, A Banda de l'Arròs proposes a new format for this year's edition: an experiential day.

Thus, the forum, aimed at professionals but also open to the general public, will move on Monday, November 27, Pego to offer its participants the opportunity to see first hand the place of origin of rice production in the region and the production process itself.

Tourism Dénia and Aehtma, in collaboration with the City Council of Pego, have scheduled a meeting with a local producer who will present in detail the varieties of rice grown in the Marjal. You will also visit the Ethnological museum of the population, where the tools of rice cultivation are exhibited. And there will be a visit to the cooperative to taste the different varieties of oranges from the land, another of Pego's star products.

After the visit to Pego, participants will travel to Cullera to enjoy a lunch in Casa Salvador and participate in an act of recognition that the organization of the forum has prepared for the owner of the premises, Salvador Gascón. As you pointed out Cristina Sellés, president of Aehtma, Gascón has been for many years "invaluable collaborator", of the international contest of arròs a banda that celebrated Dénia and that inspires this forum to a large extent. Gascón participated in the diffusion of the contest, but also in the organization and, some years, was even a member of the jury. For all this, the next November 27 will be given a detail "in gratitude for his collaboration and in recognition of his professional career".

Complementing this forum, from 1 to 10 in December, the V Dénia Gastronomic Week, a proposal in which 20 restaurants, two more than in the previous edition, will serve a menu with the traditional recipe of arroz a banda as the protagonist. As a novelty, this year Gastronomic Week opens to the region and includes among its participants the restaurant the Renda, Xàbia.

You can check the participating restaurants and their menus here.
