Last week, the socialist group complained that the municipality spent 2012 almost 2 million euros in the electric bill, which meant an increase of more than half a million in the budgeted item. The councilor Pepa Sivera he wanted to go to the step of these declarations clarifying that the real data of consumption of light is of 1.489.480 euros.
Sivera defended the work carried out by the Industrial Department of the City Council that "has not stopped working on the optimization of the electricity bill". In addition, he recalled that an audit has been contracted for the reduction of electricity consumption in municipal buildings which when completed will save 300.000 euros more.
The popular council recognized that the invoice has been increased by 30% since 2009 because "We must add all the new public facilities put into operation, such as, for example, the social services building, the trinquete, the new tourist office, the tourist information point and the toy library in Plaça de Consell, the new local police headquarters, the new facilities of castle, Joan Fuster pavilion or the headquarters of associations, as well as the new public lighting areas ".
