The Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development, Climate Emergency and Ecological Transition has extended mobility restrictions in 15 natural parks, including the Montgo, during the heat wave to prevent possible forest fires. The measure is part of the resolution approved by the Ministry of Ecological Transition and the Ministry of Justice to reduce the risk of forest fires due to the high temperatures of the coming days.
The Minister for Agriculture and the Environment, Mireia Mollà, has indicated that 100% of the personnel working in forest areas will ensure compliance with restrictions aimed at preventing forest fires in the Valencian Community.
Mollà has asked people for "maximum prudence" in the face of rising temperatures and has appealed to the collaboration of city councils and citizens to "respect and comply with rules that seek to reinforce forest fire prevention measures."
The declaration of level 3 of pre-emergency or extreme danger due to high temperatures establishes the following regulations:
- Prohibition of the transit of people on trails and cross country
- Suspension of work on forest land and its surroundings
- Suspension of the festive-recreational use of fire for festive reasons
- Prohibition of lighting any type of fire in forest lands and its area of influence (up to 500 meters).
Prohibitions in natural parks and agricultural machinery
In addition, the Ministry of Ecological Transition has established the prohibition of circulating on forest tracks and roads with any type of vehicle, bicycle or on foot in the following natural parks: Serra d'Irta, Penyagolosa, Desert de les Palmes, Tinençà de Benifassà, Prat from Cabanes-Torreblanca and Serrà Espadà in the regions of Castellón, Serra Calderona, Puebla de San Miguel, Túria and Hoces del Cabriel in Valencia and Serra Mariola and Font Roja in Alicante.
To this list of natural parks with additional restrictions on mobility, which you already realized on Wednesday, August 12, have been added the natural parks of Chera-Sot de Chera in Valencia and El Motgó and Serra Gelada in Alicante.
The resolution also prohibits the work of mowing the cereal through the use of machinery that could cause a forest fire between 10.00:20.00 am and 500:XNUMX pm in the XNUMX-meter strip adjacent to forest land.
The approved package of exceptional measures also prohibits during the heat wave the realization of any sporting event that passes through forest terrain as well as the suspension of those already authorized.
The authorizations issued for camping areas in forest lands managed by the Generalitat are suspended and in the case of shelters, camps and campsites located in forest lands, sports or recreational activities may not be carried out outside their own facilities.
The councilor recalled that the environmental and surveillance personnel will control the areas of forest land "to try to prevent any action that endangers our mountain."
