Paula Ferrer i Molina wins the VI Children's and Youth Fiction Prize in Valencia Ciutat de Dénia

Last Sunday, the VI Prize for children's and youth narrative was awarded in Valencia Ciutat de Dénia 2023 in a ceremony at the Dianense Social Center. Paula Ferrer i Molina was the winner of the edition for her work The pirates of the temps, a book that talks about the value and strength of family in a fun way.

The award, organized by the City Council of Dénia, in collaboration with the Valencian publisher Andana Editorial, and coordinated by the Public Library of Dénia, is endowed with 3.000 euros and the publication of the winning work in Andana Editorial.

At the award ceremony, the mayor, Vicent Grimalt, accompanied by the Councilor for Culture, Raúl García de la Reina, and the editor of Andana Editorial, Ricard Peris, presented Paula Ferrer with the award, made by the users of TAPIS Dénia. In addition, at the event, the edition of the winning work was presented, The pirates of the temps, illustrated by Anna Clariana. The gala ended with the theater show Soc una nou, from Zum-Zum theatre.

The jury for the sixth edition was made up of two representatives from the Dénia City Council, Llúcia Signes Mata and Mar Reus Bas, two from Andana Editorial, Ricard Peris and Llúcia Casanova, and the children's literature specialist Jovi Lozano Seser. A total of 29 works have been submitted in this year's competition.

Let us remember that the VI Prize for children's and youth narrative in Valencia Ciutat de Dénia is open to all writers who present original and unpublished works of narrative, written in Valencian and suitable for children readers (9-12 years). In the 1st edition of the award (2018) the winning work was L'illa dels recordsby Marta Julià Satorra. The second (2019) he won the infinite island, by Muriel Villanueva, leaving the 2020 edition deserted. The fourth edition (2021) was for The adventures of Diania, by Francesc Gisbert, and the fifth edition (2022) was for The revolt of the chickens, by Llorenç Capdevila.
