Miquel Ruiz will merge the art of ceramics and gastronomy in the “Plats de Manises” exhibition in Dénia

The “Plats de Manises” exhibition will open its doors to the public next Friday, January 19, at the Center d'Art L'Estacio from Dénia. The exhibition, which will be available to visit until February 25, 2024, offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich ceramic and culinary heritage of Manises, Creative City of Crafts and Popular Arts from November 2021.

The exhibition will feature an outstanding representation of pieces made by various artisans and workshops in the Valencian town, among which are Aliar-te Cerámica, Arturo Mora, Cerámicas Chenoll, Cerámicas Palanca, Plat i Bol, Pepe Royo, Domanises, Drac Cerático , Gresnaler, la Botiga de Gema, José Gimeno, Rafael Mora and Art TVS. In addition, a sample of artisanal ceramics from the Marina Alta, with works by Cristina Pedrós, Magari Things and Joan Esquerdo.

The mayor of Manises, Javier Mansilla, has highlighted the connection between local cuisine and ceramics as a prominent expression of the identity of Manises, underlining the synergies that reflect the rich culture and tradition of the place.

For his part, the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, highlighted the existing collaboration between Manises and Dénia within the UNESCO Creative Cities network. He emphasized the close connection between ceramics and gastronomy, considering both fields as representative of the character and identity of the people.

The official opening of “Plats de Manises” will take place on Friday, January 19, at 19:00 p.m. The exhibition will be open to the public every day of the week until February 25, from 10:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m. and from 16:00 p.m. to 20:00 p.m.

Highlighting the intersection between ceramics and gastronomy, opening day will feature a showcooking by chef Miquel Ruiz, manager of the El Baret de Miquel restaurant in Dénia. Ruiz, who has previously collaborated with the Ceramics Museum and the Manises City Council, will share his experience and knowledge while preparing a culinary preparation presented in one of the dishes from the Llibrell collection by Cerámicas Palanca, thus fusing ceramic and gastronomic art.
