The merchants of Dénia call a concentration of protest and demand the resignation of the Department of Commerce

03 July 2018 - 12: 49

Union make force. It is what the merchants of all the areas of Dénia have assumed, who after a month of practically daily meetings have adopted the first measures to fight for local commerce in the capital of the Marina Alta.

The first one is to become the General Association of Merchants of Dénia, organized in a nuclear way and formed by 17 people representing the areas of Calle La Vía; Saladar / Avenida de Alicante; Historical Center; Marquis de Campo / Industrial Estate; and Esplanade Cervantes / Baix la Mar / Miguel Hernández / Les Roques / Oeste.

The intention of this new association is to join forces to "build a better future for us as neighbors", according to the acting president, Antonio Llopis. Its objective is to create a trade table with work proposals and action plans for each of the zones, as well as the creation of a communication channel with "interlocutors who have strength".

In this sense, the association laments the "Absolute absence of call capacity" of the Department of Commerce that directs Eva Round, for what they have demanded "the resignation of the councilwoman and the entire network that has worked in the department of commerce of Dénia", to those who accuse of having settled in a "Pleasant routine of doing nothing". The merchants make reference to the fact that the council is spending 50.000 euros a year for the revitalization of local commerce, with "four activities" punctual that focus on the same area, the center of the city.

But for merchants, the misunderstanding with the City goes beyond the Department of Commerce. All of them have agreed to report that they have not had enough information to prepare for the works that affect the center of Dénia. Specifically report that from the City Council have not received "kind treatment" on the part of the politicians in the meetings that have maintained in the last months on the occasion of the works of the Colón street and the La Mar street.

That is why this Friday, 6 in July, will be concentrated in the Town Hall Square at 14: 00 hours. In this call, which will be held in a peaceful manner, they intend to show their displeasure at how these important works have been managed and make visible to the public the current situation of the sector.

Meeting with the General Director of Commerce of the Generalitat Valenciana

One of the last actions carried out by the merchants, this week, has been the meeting held with Natxo Costa, General Director of Commerce and Consumption of the Generalitat Valenciana.

According to the merchants, Costa, who was surprised by how the works have been managed in the city, supports his position and offered to speak with the City Council to "provide common sense".
