The image of Santissima Sang returns home today after restoration

Come home for Easter. After spending the last few months, since last December, at the Gravina Museum of Fine Arts (MUBAG) in Alicante, the carving of the Sang Santíssima, patron saint of Dénia, returns home today completely restored.

In the 10: 45 hours the authorities and the Brotherhood of Santissima Sang at the door of the convent of the Augustinian be focused to go out in procession through the Loreto street to Avenida de Valencia, where he will arrive at 11: 10 morning about the image.

Upon arrival salvos will be fired and then proceed to transfer the image on his walk back to the convent of the Augustinians to take his place at the altar.

The restoration process

Last December the size was examined at the Hospital of Castellón, where he conducted a TAC to examine the inside of the sculpture in order to meet the connecting elements, the depth and extent of cracks or breaks and state conservation support.

Then he moved to the Laboratory of Restoration Council of Alicante, where tests were performed with UV light and he took microscopic samples of different significant areas. We also were made a stylistic study and a scientific technical study.

The image of the Holy Blood

The patron saint of the city of Denia displayed in an anonymous carving made entirely in a single block of cypress wood with a natural measure size, polychromed and worked precisely dated in the late seventeenth and early eighteenth centuries.
