Family historian Manuel Ardit donates more than 300 books to Arxiu Municipal

Manuel Ardit was a prominent doctor in History and Professor of Modern History at the University of Valencia closely linked to the city of Denia, which became his second home over the years.

At the end of 2013, Professor Ardit left us and has now been months after his death, when his widow, Margarita Dolado, wanted to leave in Dénia a memory of her husband and his love for the city as a donation to Arxiu Municipal.

It is 310 books historical theme diverse nine folders with manuscripts and typescripts work on historical research of Ardit, a historian who has excelled in the fields of demography, social movements and economy of the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries itself; He has addressed issues from the Inquisition to the impact of the expulsion of the Moriscos or transatlantic trade.

The books have been selected by the librarian and archivist for municipal special interest and kept in the library of research Arxiu Municipal, but to improve its dissemination will join the online network of public libraries.

Professor Ardit collaborated on numerous occasions with the Department of Culture, including the Conference on the Duc de Lerma scheduled to mark the fourth centenary of the city title held in November 2012.
