"It is time for the Fallas to make diversity their own": these are the pictograms that will accompany the Fallas of Dénia

February 23 from 2024 - 09: 45

The Councilor for Equality and Inclusive Policies of the Dénia City Council, Javier Scotto, presented, yesterday, February 22, the new pictograms that have been designed this year for the festivities of Fallas. Javier Scotto also delivered the new pictograms to the Local Board Fallera.

From its Department of Equality and Diversity, with the collaboration of professionals from the City company, the Raquel Payá Special Education Center, and the Fallera Local Board, a series of pictograms have been designed and approved that represent events, positions and spaces related to the Fallas festival, to include those people with cognitive and/or visual diversity.

As Javier Scotto has pointed out, «pictograms allow us non-verbal communication, with schematic images of objects that help people with comprehension difficulties. "So pictograms not only serve people with disabilities to receive information about failures, but also people with reading difficulties, older people, people with visual difficulties, and even society in general."

"We are accustomed to the amplification of communication through the language of signage, such as traffic signage, or signage such as certain signage services such as a cafeteria, or that of toilets, which we quickly locate with a standard drawing," the Equality Councilor continued. Therefore, in 2024, the Dénia City Council therefore brings the understanding of the Fallas festival to all citizens, amplifying that this festival is known, recognized and integrated by people with disabilities," said Javier Scotto.

With these inclusive pictograms, the aim is, as Scotto has stated, to "make the Fallas more inclusive and diverse festivals", making the pictograms available to the JLF, for distribution also to the rest of the Fallas, for the general use of everything. the colective. "The only disability is exclusion, it is time for the failures to make diversity their own, so that the festivals are, in addition to the heritage of humanity, the heritage of our own humanity," concluded the Councilor for Equality.

The pictograms will also be incorporated into the information provided by the Dénia Local Police on the different Fallas acts that affect security or the occupation of public roads, for greater understanding by citizens.

    Zou mij huge helpen.
    Thank you
