Taifa of Denia (Daniya) and the Alpont, (Al-Bunt) during the eleventh century were two of the most important powers of Al-Andalus. Now, after a few centuries they will meet again.
The Department of Archeology of Denia, on the occasion of the celebration of the thousand years of its foundation, has organized a trip for anyone who wants to go, this Saturday at Alpont.
This trip serves to publicize other populations with a powerful Islamic past, to find similar links between the two and also recompose a common eleventh century fresco that throughout the territory dominated by Arabs.
The visit to this village in the county of Los Serranos is a real discovery: their archaeological allow the old Daniya, founded around 1013 by Mujahid, it can be seen as a mirror.
His Taifa was founded around 1009 (just a few years before Dénia) by Berbers kings who managed to maintain their independence from other powerful neighbors like the Taifa of Zaragoza, until 1104 became part of the Almoravid empire.
According to Josep Gisbert, Municipal archaeologist of Dénia, supposed to "for Dénia, Alpont is a first class heritage reference, which at the time of Al-Andalus had a privileged urban layout, which in part has been fossilized by the peculiar evolution of the city".
