The Dénia City Council has joined the 'Estellés als pobles' initiative, of which 40 Valencian municipalities and the public universities of Valencia, Alicante and Jaume I of Castellón are already part, to remember, with various cultural activities and throughout wide of the Valencian geography, the celebration in 2024 of the centenary of the birth of the Burjassot poet Vicent Andrés Estellés (1924-1993), the main innovator of contemporary Valencian poetry.
Yesterday this platform was officially presented in the city of birth of the writer. Throughout this year, 'Estellés als pobles' will work to put together a program that fills towns and cities with activities of all kinds, such as concerts, plays, dance, readings and recitals, audiovisuals or exhibitions, dedicated to the dissemination of the figure and work of the poet. Each city council and university will have autonomy to develop the programs they consider and which will be announced in the coming months.
Dénia's connection with Estellés transcends simple admiration for his literary creations, since among his works is 'A Dénia', included in the collection of poems Mural of the Valencian Country III.
Its extensive production, also dedicated to gastronomy and the pleasures of the table, has encouraged Dénia, UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy, to join this commemoration.
