Dénia Red Cross rescues two young men lost at sea on two mats

08 July 2020 - 11: 45

Rescuers of the Red Cross of Dénia carried out, yesterday, a total of two important interventions in the beaches Township.

The first of them occurred around 19:30 p.m., when the aid station receives notice that a man, between 55 and 60 years old, is face down at the end of the beach in Les Deveses, in the Molinell river.

Apparently, the man, who was swimming, despite not having a bad sea, had trouble getting out of the water due to the small waves and swallowed a lot of water. The Les Deveses beach staff came quickly to give him first aid and immediately the coordination vehicle and the ambulance arrived, who had already stabilized the man, who was suffering from low oxygen saturation, and went to the Denia hospital.

Lost 2km from the coast on a mat

In the first intervention, the Red Cross team was attending to the emergency until after 20:30 p.m., 30 minutes after the beach surveillance hours, which helped rescue two young men who were adrift in a Beach mat.

And the fact is that the patron saint of the Red Cross was providing support in the health care of the male at the end of Les Deveses, so on returning to port she saw two bright elements about two kilometers from the coast. The Red Cross approaches the place with the jet ski and sees two young people, 16 and 17 years old, on two inflatable mats that could not return to the coast.

The two young women reported not knowing how to swim. Upon reaching the shore, one of them was in a bit of a shock, although they were in good health.

From the Dénia Red Cross they recommend bathers not to enter the sea with floating elements when there is an offshore wind or a yellow flag to avoid being washed away by the sea state.
