With the presentation of a book on the Duc de Lerma end the celebrations of the city title

Friday April 4 the Plenary Hall of the City of Dénia hosted the presentation of the book "The city of Dénia in temps of the Duc de Lerma"Written by the municipal archivist Rosa Seser Dénia on the early seventeenth century.

The book, which was presented to coincide with the date on which, in 1612, King Philip III granted the title of city Dénia, is divided into 3 distinct parts: the first deals with aspects related to the granting of the title, whose original document is preserved in the municipal archives. In this first part of the study also it includes the expert Javier Docampo made on the miniatures illustrating the title as well as the transcript of the text signed by Professor Joan Ivars.

The second part is intended to discuss the role as a defensive center of Denia and judicial office in the territory of the marquesado; and the third and last part is the most extensive, analyzing the life of the city and more everyday aspects like gastronomy and festivities celebrating the neighbors of the early seventeenth Dénia.

The book is complemented by color images, fragments of transcribed documents and details of pictures with scenes of the time.

The author of the book explained that his intention is "bringing the daily life of seventeenth-century dianenses closer to the public, spreading our history and opening a path in the historical investigation of the Dénia of the time".
