The Center d'Art l'Estació becomes the 'Teatro Circo Cortis'

The events commemorating the anniversary of 125 Heap Antonio Corts, the Tenor Cortis, come to an end. And one of the highlights is a reality: since last Friday, and until 21 May, Center d'Art L'Estacio hosts the exhibition Antonio Cortis, tenor. 1891-1952. Prodigi Denia.

Visitors to the exhibition will experience a return to the past, since exposure not only collects objects related to the world of Tenor Cortis documents but recreates a piece of Dénia of the early twentieth century, that Dénia in the industry prune gave wealth to their neighbors; Dénia that was connected with the whole country thanks to Carcaixent-Dénia railway line.

The sample consists of more than 300 graphics resources related to the tenor, whose acquisition has been made possible by an intense year of work, visits to specialty stores across the country, and also the international market in Europe and America. Thanks to this great research, Dénia City Council has acquired a fund of municipal ownership of Antonio Cortis that would create a permanent exhibition on the international character of the story of Dénia.

As explained curator of the exhibition, the municipal archaeologist Josep GisbertThe new collection Tenor Cortis expects to have a place Ethnological museum of the city, which has already turned 25 years old, or in a future museum about the city of Dénia, when the rehabilitation of the house of the Marquesa Valero de Palma, on Cavallers street, becomes a reality.

The assets acquired this year by the city of Dénia in the exhibition are complemented by donations from family tenor, unique pieces like a jukebox, a violin or Cortis photographs that are part of the exhibition on the life of the tenor.

Recreation of the old train station

The exhibition on the life of Tenor Cortis can be visited at the Center d'Art l'Estació, a space that has once again become the old train station that was years ago. For the first time in 38 years, the back door of the building was opened again, by which travelers accessed the platform, and it has remained closed since it ceased to function as such.

Also on the back you can see a relic of mid-century: the real clock that once was part of the facade of the station which has been restored for this occasion. In addition, inside the room, has recreated the office of the station and you can see luggage carts, travelers continue as if waiting for the train.
