A mass of polar air brings the first wave of cold in the Marina Alta this weekend

Winter is really going to make an appearance in Dénia and the Marina Alta Starting this Wednesday, January 9. According to the State Meteorological Agency, from that day the entry of a polar air mass is expected that will leave a very cold environment during the day and night.

Thus, starting on Wednesday 9, driven by winds of northern component, it is expected the entry of a cold mass of polar air through the northeast of the Peninsula that will extend throughout Thursday to the rest of the Peninsula and the Balearic Islands. Although at the beginning of the episode it will be relatively humid, it will soon change to a drier character. The general lowering of temperatures will cause frost in large areas. The atmosphere will tend to become unstable in the Mediterranean area on Thursday to gain stability throughout Friday and Saturday

The predictions warn that in our area, the far northeast of the province of Alicante, yes we could have some precipitation, generally weak or at most locally moderate, and between Thursday afternoon and Friday morning, with the mass of cold air already affecting us, we could have some weak snow in the area, with a snow level that would be around the 400-500 msnm, and even less (although probably already without precipitation).

The abrupt change in temperatures will be noticed from Friday, when minimum temperatures of 2 degrees and maximums of 12 degrees will be recorded, which means a difference between 3 and 6 degrees with respect to these days. As of Monday, temperatures will recover the values ​​of these first days of January.
