The Forneret boat, belonging to the artisanal fishing fleet Denia, fished last week, accidentally, a copy of 54 kilos of loggerhead turtle while it was fishing. Immediately launched recovery protocols as the fishing port and waiting came aa walk from the center of wildlife recovery of El Saler and marine environmental protection service personnel dock.
The turtle, a specimen of female loggerhead turtle (caretta caretta), weighing 54 kilos, was immediately transferred to the Arca del Mar of the Oceanogràfic of Valencia where it is in good condition. Those responsible for the Ark of the Sea have baptized it as "Santa Dénia" and will be returned to its natural habitat from the boat that recovered it.
This summer Dénia joined the sea turtle recovery and conservation project of the Arca del Mar and "Santa Dénia" has become the first turtle recovered in our waters.
