February 26 from 2023 - 13: 30

Yesterday, around 12:20 in the morning, a cyclist suffered a serious accident on the Les Planes road within the municipality of Dénia. As this newsroom has been able to confirm today with official sources, the cyclist passed away.

The road remained closed to traffic for several hours, both from Dénia and from Xàbia, to let the emergency and health services act properly. Several witnesses to the event were able to confirm that she was a cyclist who was training in the area with a foreign team.

Agents of the Civil Guard, Local Police and the emergency health unit tried to save the person's life at all costs, although unfortunately without success. The causes of the accident are still unknown.

The cyclist has not died... let's see if they are well informed

  2. charles fifths says:

L'Espagne uses hundreds of millions to build unusable airports (Madrid sud, Castillon, et des
Quartiers d'immeubles même pas terminés complétement vides.Quel gâchis. Mais on n'as pas d'argent pour aménager certaines routes. Indeed, the route du Montgo is dangerous, trop étroite par endroit.

  3. Alberto says:

These are incredible comments. Many accusing the cars and their drivers even if there was no car in the accident. Haven't read the article? The cause of the accident is not known.

  4. pituca says:

It is a danger for cyclists to ride on the flats. Mountain road, with a lot of traffic. It's a shame about this cyclist; It will be necessary to know what happened, but I have always thought that it is a very dangerous road.

  5. Jiri says:

I want to see, who is guilty and for what reason! It is very important to learn what to avoid and avoid!

  6. julian says:

At this moment it makes me sad to put myself in the hypothetical place of his family. Imagine having a son, relative, neighbor or acquaintance who excels in a sport and who is summoned to train in another country, from now on the young man stands out and gives pride. Imagine how the news that he died in an unfortunate accident would fall? A few years ago a group of cyclists lost their lives and others were left with significant injuries. It was a very sad moment. I think there are plenty of such misplaced comments with reprehensible overtones at this time. But it is true that safety works must be increased, on some roads they could be widened so that we can all circulate more safely, it seems to me that they should also carry some type of license plate to be able to identify them since some have reckless driving.

  7. Ignacio says:

That's what happens when these foreign teams take our roads as their private cycling tracks. It is full of these little groups hindering and hindering the normal and necessary road traffic. Many of them committing a series of traffic violations, such as driving in the middle of the road on a continuous or discontinuous line, lane displacements without visibility in the middle of a curve, entering roads without looking, without respecting yields, stops or simply checking that it is sure to do it.
They are a danger to other users and to themselves. A pity the death but they have to start considering what they are doing.

    • Gabriel says:

Of course, car drivers all drive like movies, hey, it's one thing... personally they have tried to drive me off the road intentionally, driving on the shoulder alone, and that they are drunk is not an excuse

      • Rose says:

Ignacio you are a jerk. You are not the one to judge who comes or who goes, if something bothers you, report it but leaving a comment like that and on top of that being a fucking racist is being a real jerk.
If you were from the town, would you also speak the same? Yeah

        • Ignacio says:

Why are you insulting Rose? That's where you lose credibility. Without insults. Talk like smart people.

      • Ignacio says:

Our Gabriel roads are for wheeled traffic for our free movement and movement, with its traffic regulations, traffic code and road safety, as in any country, not to serve as a fun track for cycling groups that do not respect any code and block also the circulation. We all know that there are good and bad conductors but we are not talking about that here. Let's not confuse terms.

      • jose csrlos says:

It should be forbidden to ride the bike on the flats after what happens happens. 1 tourism is being done because in their countries it is snowy and they cannot but they make the rest difficult for us and they are very badly educated they believe that the road is theirs

    • jose rafael ramirez says:

I agree with what you say, it is a real danger for both the cyclist and the driver, and cyclists do not respect traffic signals and always go next to each other chatting and cocky on the roads

      • Boron says:

I do not understand what is happening to the people of Denia, damn one person has died, everything else is superfluous, if guilty, not guilty, what does it matter to think of your loved ones, all of us, and I mean, we have all committed infractions by car, by motorcycle, by bike, walking, who has not been jumped a red traffic light or a give way deserves death for that, first of all respect, then see the causes and finally analyze to try to prevent it from happening again the highway of the flats is special something wonderful for those initiated in the bicycle when you crown it both from Denia and from Javea you feel like the fucking master of the world unfortunately the lack of shoulders and the curves on the descents the traffic make it the most dangerous in the region for many years a cyclist has always fallen on it since young locals who Ivan for cycling figures such as veterans who frequent it, vacationers on Sundays, people who are just starting out, succumb to the beauty and hardness of this route. We will never have to pay such a high price for having hooked us on Denia, and her wonderful challenges RIP unknown young woman and most sincere condolences to her family and friends

  8. Ana says:

In fact, the excessive number of cyclists are a danger to everyone and more so on a road that does not meet the conditions and is already dangerous in itself. Considering also that there are many inexperienced cyclists along with drivers in a hurry on a road with poor visibility and space, I think that there is no other solution than to cut back on use. For example, set hours of use, on weekends only bicycles and pedestrians are allowed, on weekdays only cars, something like that.

    • Ignacio says:

There are people who also work on the weekend and need to travel by car or for any need that may arise in real life. Do we forbid it?

  9. Pillar says:

Have you thought and reflected for a single minute on what you just said?, Buffff. Please think!!! It seems that you only want to go through life. How dangerous is ignorance.

    • you have killed this woman says:

It's dangerous, but one day you'll learn something, Pilar.

It's like not making an investment of hundreds of millions in infrastructure so that some can play sports, without a license or any measure that guarantees their safety. That all cars have more and more obligatory measures to avoid risks in case of accidents and the bikes in Las Planas are almost stopped on the slope and surrounded by cars that are not expecting these obstacles.

Ignorance and positions like yours cost many lives. This woman has died because no one has regulated what was obvious, among other things, because people like you do not allow that regulation, which is common sense.

  10. spanky says:

Pehaps take women off the roads and make the world a safer place. 🙂

    • Gabriel says:

In winter, outside the sun and beach season, hundreds of thousands of cyclists from central Europe come to enjoy our climate and roads, providing a million-dollar benefit, perhaps this way these fools behind the wheel understand it better, stress is another death cause.

    • Alana says:

You are a fucking idiot and sexist, Spanky. Take yourself off life to make a better world?

    • Luis says:

The same was raised by your mother Spanky.

      • fucking louis says:

If so, it was because of the fear that a Luis would come out.

        • Luis says:

Spanky's comment is derogatory to women and you defend him? You have not understood the meaning of mine.

        • fucking louis says:

Luis, you have not understood the difference between a joke and your comment.

That the fucking jokes of female comedians are the wildest sexist thing I've ever heard. And here we are leaving them ground and acting as a panty ironer.

Spanky made a joke that I don't like, but bless his joke compared to the responses.

And you have to PROHIBIT bikes in risk areas. Highways for cars. WE SAVE LIVES LIKE THIS.

        • Luis says:

Are you talking about jokes? Review the meaning of the word "joke" and when to apply it and here it was superfluous. We are talking about the death of a person. Where is the respect for her? And on top of that with a derogatory comment for being a woman. Laugh if that's your mental level. Also, if you start insulting your comment, it has no value. Even the nick you've chosen includes an insult. And do you ask for respect? You call making a crude comment about someone's death a "blessed joke"? Yourself.

  11. sonia kleyman says:

This road is far too dangerous for cyclists and they should not be allowed. It is not fair on motorists who have difficulty seeing them on blind bends.

  12. Ana says:

Cyclists pose a serious danger to society since they lack regulations (urgently necessary), they go where they want, they cause accidents, invade roads and hinder traffic, I think they should only have access to specific places where they are not permitted. there is car access.

    • Pep says:

Cyclists, motorcyclists, runners, hikers, rally drivers, tractors, worker vans, they all bother... Could it be that you are the problem?

      • sonia kleyman says:

        Just cyclists over the Montgo.

      • For God's sake stop now says:

Who has named all those people, Peporro? Only you. It is necessary to avoid that the cyclists go around like they do now, positions like yours - that is to say: you - have killed that woman.

You should feel guilty for killing her by not forbidding what clearly must be forbade. There is no airbag or seat belt. They do not go at the speed necessary to circulate on public roads.

    • Iñaki says:

You show a great lack of knowledge regarding what you say, to begin with the regulations that govern us are the same, the RGC, does it ring a bell? And what I don't see you think is that a high percentage of the cyclists you see are taxpayers, They have a driver's license, and surely a cyclist's license. And by the way, I still don't know of any car driver killed in a bike accident, so I just ask for a little respect for all those killed on bikes, thanks to drivers who were in a hurry to get somewhere or just not they have no respect for human life, accidents exist but other things are not accidents.

      • sonia kleyman says:

We are only talking about the road over the Montgo. It is far too dangerous for cyclists. On other roads at least they can be seen and they can be overtaken safely. There is no room to pass on this road.

    • spanky says:

Pehaps take women off the roads and make the world a safer place. 🙂

    • spanky says:

Perhaps take women off the roads, make the world a safer place 🙂

    • Manuel says:

So a cyclist is hit by a hit-and-run and it's the cyclist's fault?
And the danger are the cyclists?
Some of you lose the pot.

      • lol says:

In other words, some blacks die crossing the strait and it's the fault of those who don't want to be raped by blacks in a herd?

        Yes you are fatal, yes.

    • Nuria. says:

The real danger to society are people like you, incompetent and brainless and, how can you tell that your only sport is smoking joints, daughter.

    • Pillar says:

Have you thought and reflected for a single minute on what you just said?, Buffff. Please think!!! It seems that you only want to go through life. How dangerous is ignorance

  13. Worker, the extinct species says:

I think that unfortunately there is too much laziness in this country, which makes our day to day more and more expensive, heavy and dangerous. When my generation disappears, everything will be "I have my rights" and little to put in their mouths.

  14. A worker says:

the crowd of cyclists has spread like a plague. A few years ago, it took me about 20 minutes to get to work. Now almost 1 hour. And because ? because 2 cyclists go up the Plana next to each other at 3-4 km/h. bravo Absolutely ruthless… The cyclists are not interested in the fact that there is a long line of cars behind them. Even with 3-4km/h. Super great… thank you!!!

    • mykin says:

That speed you allude to is completely false. I have a bike and my way is amateur climb with a minimum of 10 km per hour. From there on. Those who circulate in an iron box with 4 wheels do not respect cyclists or motorists, they have passed me on several occasions, brushing against me without respecting the safety distance, putting my life at risk. Why are you a little late? Come now!! If they delay you because of a party parade or a parade or because of works... you don't get angry? YOU ONLY NEED TO DEVELOP TOLERANCE AND PATIENCE..

  15. No more cyclists on the flats says:

I hope he recovers. The Las Planas thing with the cyclists has reached a delusional point: he has always been dangerous because even going very slowly by car, depending on where you are, the cyclist is stopped on the slope and you eat him. But it is that now there are dozens since early morning, many inexperienced, even grandparents, who set out to explore Las Planas as if it were a tourist attraction, when it is an area with a lot of traffic and risky for cars.

It is inconceivable that they do not forbid it. They can ban old cars in the city, they want to ban combustion engines, that we have a dog without taking a course or kill a rat that sneaks into the house, but if you name some restrictions on cyclists, these people who ask for a 5-meter distance to overtake them and yet they go in parallel with the cheetah, they are scandalized because they believe that the investment in state highways is for them to entertain themselves for a little while.

    • Àlex says:

Exactly, I agree with you. The Les Planes road does not meet the safety requirements for car traffic. Therefore, this road should become a greenway, exclusively for pedestrians, hikers, runners and cyclists and car traffic that goes along the Jesús Pobre road, which for this has good shoulders, visibility, and good signage. Etc... one more piece of information, the Les Planes road is a path that has existed for centuries, when cars did not exist

      • No more cyclists on the flats says:

Alex, go where you say. I think it's useful for cars but with many limitations, the issue is that it's dangerous. The pity is that it is discussed with such fury instead of trying to be constructive, but it is a thing of these times.

What there is no doubt is that cars + bikes + buses etc. it doesn't work there. It is very dangerous.
