A carpet of excrement covers the "most romantic" square in Dénia

09 September 2021 - 10: 04

It has gone from being one of the corners of which the council was most proud to the forgotten hiding place that it is today. Not even the policies to please the tourist have saved Tenor Cortis square from neglect shortly after its reform.

Just three months ago, the City Council gathered the press in the square to announce that it had been chosen to host The Kiss Bank, the first urban action with a gender perspective. A furniture element created with care and a result as beautiful as it is functional that sought to commemorate LGTBI Pride Day by socializing affection. The consistory, in addition, pursued with the project put the recently renovated Tenor Cortis square on the map and turn it into a pilgrimage corner given the "charm and romanticism of the place".

The square was impeccable that day, without the presence of any car, since since its renovation the parking spaces have been removed, and with the gray brick floor that seemed to be brand new. Nothing to do with the image that shows now.

As in most parts of Dénia with the presence of large trees, such as Marqués de Campo, pigeons roam freely. However, in those other places neatness is the order of the day. In Tenor Cortis this is not the case.

It is true that the place is swept every morning, but anyone who passes through it will appreciate that it takes more to recover a more hygienic image. Bird droppings have taken over the place and it seems to go unnoticed. In fact, the very well-intentioned initiative of El Banco del Beso for months shows an incomprehensible face that collides with the idea for which it was created. It is not even possible to rest in it if you have any appreciation for your pants. And let's not talk about reading the inscriptions that accompany the project.

Before the reform, the swaying of parked vehicles concealed the digestive consequences of the poultry fauna in the square. Now, for far too long - because the current build-up has been after months of no pressure cleaning - Tenor Cortis is much prettier, and dirtier too.

That's what happens for doing things without considering the subsequent consequences.
Museums are made that then increase public expenses instead of making exhibition halls that charge for using them.
The invasion of turtle doves is allowed to reproduce and they screw everything up, but it is fashionable to protect the animals.
If there is no capacity to keep things in good condition, then let's think differently and make things more sustainable.

Include Ondara street in the list; street that has become an urban garbage dump, due to the carelessness of those responsible for not clearing the undeveloped area.
DENIA is life, but not like this

  3. Paco says:

The luck that DENIA has is that it has tourism despite how dilapidated it is, a deplorable urban plan, the Marines highway still has a sidewalk, it has nothing, it has cement and potholes in equal parts, all that road is super neglected, of shame . Except for a couple of streets, it shows how little the council cares about having a beautiful town. It is nonsense. Their faces do not drop with shame.

  4. Brigitte says:

There is a lot to clean to do in Denia, and unfortunately for a long time that the city is very much yours, I will believe that things are going to change. To have better conditions of the state of the beautiful city of Denia. It is not the first time that said!

  5. Magdalena says:

The problem is not the birds or the dogs the PROBLEM It is the Denia town hall the poor hygiene that the people who go to Denia enjoy I have been going to Dénia for 26 years and this year it has been VERY UNPLEASANT THE APPEARANCE AS MUCH DIRT AND LEFT AS I SAW THIS YEAR THE TRAFFIC LIGHT ON THE ROAD OF LAS MARINAS IN FRONT OF THE RESTAURANT FERNANDO IS A THIRD-WORLDWIDE AS LONG AS A DISAPPOINTMENT DOES NOT PASS, THE WALL IS NOT GOING TO SOLVE THE LITTLE SPACE FOR PEOPLE TO PASS THROUGH IT IS SHAMEFUL AND OTHER THAN THE OCCUPANTS THAT AREA OF EXCREMENTS OF DOGS YOU ARE GETTING DROPPED EVERYWHERE I COULD CONTINUE BUT THIS IS FOR THE CITY COUNCIL AND THE LORD TO THE MAYOR TO TAKE NOTE APART FROM THE BAD SMELL THROUGH THE DREAM AREA OF DENIA I THINK THAT THE SUMMER RIGHTS HAVE TO THE TOWN AND ACCORDING TO WHICH AREAS ARE CLEANER BECAUSE WE PAY OUR TAXES RELIGIOUSLY BUT ABOVE ALL THE ROAD AREA IS DENIGRANT TO PASS THROUGH THAT PLACE, THIS FOR WHOEVER AND WHO COMES TO A GOOD END THAT I IMAGINE WILL BE THE MAYOR WHO SPENT MORE IN HAVING A PLEASANT PEOPLE WHICH IS WHAT THEY ARE LIVING ON BUT AT THIS STEP THEY WILL NOTICE IT BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY COMMENTS REGARDING CLEANING

    Hey.
The issue of dirt from birds, whatever they may be, is solved quickly, more with invasive species, but I have to note that, not long ago, my neighbor, tired of swallows shitting the edge of the balcony, quickly ended the problem but Thanks to the citizen collaboration who gave a tip-off, he is still paying the 5000 euros of complaint of throwing the nests.
The rest is hypocrisy and nonsense, which in Spain there is a lot.
If there is shit in the square, then there are ………….

  7. Martina says:

The rulers should know that not only projects are carried out…. then you have to keep them
It is not the only project carried out and then forgotten
Of course, the medals are awarded right away
