Posturopodia, the treatment of functional problems of stability and posture, now in Clínica Podológica Estévez

06 October 2017 - 13: 53

Currently, the Clinical Podiatric Estévez is in continuous formation to offer the patient a wide range of therapeutic possibilities. To do this, he is specializing in Posturology in the "Higher School of Posturology Villeneuve". It is the neurophysiology applied to the fundamental and clinical bases of postural regulation.

Posturology includes posturopodia, specialization of the podiatrist who studies the postural tonic system, its regulation, alterations and adaptations and allows the treatment of functional problems of stability and posture by means of the foot with neurosensory templates.

It is known by all, that sometimes certain ailments appear in the human body (infinity of symptoms at any level, muscular, articular, visceral, etc.), acute or chronic, that even performing tests of all kinds, as well as treatments several, and having visited different specialists, it is not possible to know for sure, the origin of all evils and to heal them.

Remember, pain is not always synonymous with injury, it can be the alarm that something is not regulated correctly.

Well, taking advantage of a magnificent definition of fellow podiatrist Jorge Pérez (Podium), briefly explains what Posturopodia is.

The human body has a series of information sensors (mainly feet and eyes) that collect information from the environment and is sent to the brain through the central nervous system, which returns the information necessary to keep the body in balance and harmony.

At any level of this system, dysfunctions that alter the entire system may occur. The deregulation of one or more of the information captors immediately leads to adaptations with the main purpose of maintaining horizontal vision and saving energy expenditure, but these adaptations tend to happen in a chain, creating alterations of the different body segments and the consequent imbalance in the muscular chains, which generate in most cases the pains that motivate the consultation of patients.

To understand this we can give a practical example.

The feet are one of the main catchers that gather information from the ground to modulate our posture. If the foot presents a disorder and can not fulfill its function of keeping us upright, the next organ in charge of keeping our body in balance, the eye, will enter into action. It happens that the oculomotor muscles are phasic, that is to say, they have a high fatigability, unlike the muscles of the inferior extremity in charge of the balance, as the soleus, that is a tonic muscle and that can work long periods of time without hardly tiring . Well, when the eye is in charge of regulating the posture, the oculomotor muscles begin to perform a function for which they are not prepared, producing redness of eyes, itching, tired sight, dizziness, etc. This example shows a direct relationship between feet and eyes and can be extrapolated to other types of joint, back, visceral pain, etc.

Therefore, if we treat the foot properly we can act by improving the entire system. Postural templates are an informational treatment. The skin of the human body has countless receptors that collect information. They are extremely sensitive. Once the patient has been studied and by means of a series of tests that measure the muscular tensions of the body, postural templates are made with reliefs of between 1 and 3 mm in case of functional alterations or up to 6mm in structured pathologies.

These reliefs stimulate baropressors or pressure sensors and send the information to the brain through the central nervous system through its extrapyramidal pathways that process the information collected in the sole of the foot and modify the posture through muscular responses. It is hoped that if we achieve isotonia of the body (same muscular tension) will disappear the tensions, functioning all the structures in a perfect synergy and the pains will cease.
