COVID passport: where it will be mandatory and how it will have to be presented

03 December 2021 - 07: 00

The obligation to present and apply for the COVID passport in certain sectors comes into effect this weekend. The Superior Court of Justice of the Valencian Community has endorsed its approval this week, so the Consell is already preparing to put it into operation before the end of the week and keep it in force for a month.

These are the 5 keys to the approval of the COVID certificate in the Community:

1. Main restriction during Christmas

The COVID passport, as already announced Ximo Puig, will be obligatory during the long weekend in December and practically all the Christmas, with the exception, for now, of the night and the day of Kings.

If the situation does not drastically deteriorate, the COVID passport will be the toughest restriction this Christmas. Last year, social gatherings for non-cohabitants were prohibited and there was a curfew at 23 pm.

2. Restaurants and nightclubs with a capacity of more than 50 people

Once again, the sector that will most have to ensure that the restrictions are met will be the hotelier. The certificate will be mandatory to access the interior of restaurants, bars, nightlife and recreational activities spaces where there are restaurants when the allowed capacity of the premises is greater than 50 people.

It will also be mandatory at music festivals where the use of a mask cannot be guaranteed for the duration of the event.

3. Visits to hospitals and residences

To go visit relatives in hospitals and residences we will also need the COVID passport. Therefore, access to both places of people who do not have it will be prohibited.

4. Complete vaccination, PCR or antigens

Who can access the COVID passport? People who meet one of these 4 requirements can download the COVID certificate:

  • - Complete vaccination
  • - Negative PCR in the last 72 hours
  • - Negative antigens in the last 48 hours
  • - Having passed the coronavirus in the last 6 months

5. APP to access the COVID passport

How will the establishments control whether or not you have the certificate? In this sense, Puig announced the creation of an APP from where we can access the COVID passport and it can be verified by means of a QR that is correct.
