The Joan Fuster area in Dénia is in the dark due to a new cable theft that has left 13 lampposts out of order. As reported by the ESE (energy services company), the thieves have stolen 900 meters of cable, affecting a route length of 230 real meters. The area affected by the theft includes 7 lampposts on Camí dels Lladres and 6 on Avenida Joan Fuster.
This is the latest in a series of cable thefts that have taken place in Dénia. In the current case, the company is already working on the replacement of the stolen material and it is expected that the area will be illuminated again within a reasonable period of time.
Authorities are investigating the thefts and are asking anyone who has seen anything suspicious in the area to contact police immediately. In addition, local residents are encouraged to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the proper authorities to help prevent future cable thefts.
