National Geographic proposes the Red Prawn of Dénia as one of the 5 best gastronomic routes in Spain

January 18 from 2024 - 14: 40

The Second Edition of the National Geographic Travel Readers' Awards revealed that the Dénia Red Prawn has been selected as one of the five candidates in the category of Best Gastronomic Route in Spain. This recognition has been announced by AEHTMA, who anticipate the publication of the results in the February edition of Viajes National Geographic magazine, as well as on their digital platforms and social networks.

Readers and followers of the magazine will have the opportunity to express your preferences through voting, which will remain open until February 11. The Spanish-speaking community of travelers will be able to learn in detail about each of the nominees in their respective categories through the magazine's channels, thus allowing an informed vote.

The Dénia Red Prawn route is described by National Geographic as a route that begins at the fish market in this town, following this coveted seafood to the Municipal Market, the Sea Museum and the best restaurants in the region. The competition in the Best Gastronomic Route category includes four other notable finalists:

  • Somontano Wine: The southeast of Huesca is presented as a tapestry of vineyards, wineries and medieval towns, forming an itinerary where this drink is the protagonist.
  • Manchego Cheese: Five routes cross quixotic landscapes, offering the opportunity to learn about the heritage, cheese factories and museums dedicated to this tasty food.
  • Les Garrigues Oil: Dry dry liquid gold will be the backbone of a trip through the Lleida region, highlighting everything from modernist oil mills to thematic museums and castles on hills.
  • Rioja Alta Wine: Between Logroño and Haro, there are not only some of the most famous wineries in the country, but also a territory full of vineyards, wine bars and monuments.

The initiative, which seeks to encourage the traveling spirit and the desire to explore new destinations, is consolidated in 2024 after the success of the first edition, which had overwhelming participation and a significant reach in media impacts.

There is not so much shrimp for so many tourists. In the end it will happen like with hedgehogs.
