Half a hundred turtles are born in Dénia in the second nest that hatches on our beaches

08 September 2023 - 09: 50

The second turtle nest on Les Albaranes beach, in Dénia, has successfully hatched during the night of last Wednesday. On this occasion, a total of 55 baby turtles saw the light for the first time on the warm sands of the beach (as reported by Xaloc's Instagram). During the early morning, most of them were released into the sea, where they will begin their exciting journey in the ocean. In addition, it is worth noting that seven of the newborn turtles were collected for their care and protection at the Oceanogràfic.

The event continued last night when four additional turtles hatched, a moment that was captured on video by one of the Campament Tortuga volunteers.

To guarantee the success of this process, this morning, the biologist from the University of Valencia, Jesús Tomás, will carry out the exhumation of the newly hatched nest. It is estimated that there are still approximately 15 eggs left inside.

This nest corresponds to the third post of the Diana turtle in La Marineta.
