Last weekend representatives of the Dénia Surf Club participated in the 1st Open SUP Race - Beach from Orihuela, ranking in the top positions in the juvenile, sub 13 and allround categories (tables below 12,6 ”).
The competition stood out for conditions of strong waves and wind, which made this test even more interesting.
The SUP or Stand Up Paddle is a variant of surfing that consists of sliding in the sea on a board driven by an oar, either to perform distance races between 1500 and 15000 meters (RACE) or, to surf in waves of any size .
Since it can be practiced at any time of the year, it is not necessary to have a special physical form or special weather conditions are needed, the SUP is growing exponentially among all types of people, of all ages and sex. It is a perfect way to get in touch with the sea and experience unique sensations.
