The athlete, Laurence Rastell, of the Athletics Club Baleària Diànium, was on Italian soil participating in the "Valtellina Vertical Tube Race", which was played in the town of Sondrio. It is the hardest vertical kilometer in the world, it has 2.700 steps and a desnivell positive of more 500 meters. The last 500 steps have a slope of 95%.
In this particular test took part, 388 participants, between the elite and open from all parts of the world. Laurence Rastell, ran in open and invested a time of 23.16, finished in the fifth place of the category Veterans B. In the general classification was the 24 of 59 women and the 35 of 79 total women, between elite and open, ahead of many of the elite group.
After the test the athlete was very happy and commented that, "It has been a very hard experience but at the same time very special and beautiful".
