The Cardenal Herrera University rewards the transparency of the Dénia City Council

November 10 from 2022 - 14: 15

The Governance, Transparency and CSR Observatory of the Cardenal Herrera University, in collaboration with the Autonomous University of Barcelona ComSET Research Group, have awarded Dénia City Council for the second consecutive year for its work in the field of institutional transparency. The award ceremony, held today in the auditorium of the CEU-Cardenal Herrera University, was attended by the mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, the Councilor for Transparency, Melani Ivars, and the municipal department of Transparency team.

The work of the department was already awarded in 2021. Among the 542 municipalities evaluated, Dénia was one of the 7 winners. This edition, the number of awarded Valencian municipalities is reduced to six – Dénia, València, Elx, Onda, Rafelbunyol and Gandía -. In addition, the Provincial Councils of Alicante and Valencia have been recognized.

The criteria for awarding the distinction are set out in a guide that can be found on the Infoparticipa website and have been designed by the more than twenty universities that serve as juries in the contest.

The criteria ask for information on the members of the Municipal Corporation, accessibility to the Transparency Portal, the clarity with which the management of public funds is shown, the dissemination of the plenary sessions through the VideoActa portal or the result of citizen participation in consultations, to cite an example among the 51 indicators.

Melani Ivars wanted to thank the work done by the municipal team of Transparency in fulfilling the commitment that the consistory acquired. She has encouraged the entire Public Administration to continue working hard to achieve "changing indicators, which are becoming more demanding every year". The councilor believes that it is "very positive that Dénía continues to reach the objectives annually".

This recognition, in addition to certifying the level of transparency in the public sector, serves as a credential to request subsidies and aid such as the one Dénia received last October from the Alicante Provincial Council for the maintenance of its Transparency Portal.
