The UNED Associated Center in Dénia held on Friday, November 18, the solemn official opening of the academic year, this year, for the first time, took place in the Classroom Xàbia. And it was there because this year marks the twentieth anniversary of the launch of this aulario.
The solemn opening ceremony of the academic year 2016-17 was chaired by the Vice Chancellor of the Open University, Tomas Fernandez Garcia, who was joined at the table by the territorial director Presidency in Alicante, Esteban Vallejo; Mayor of Javea, José Chulvi; the director of the UNED Associated Center in Dénia, Raquel MartíAnd the Councilor for Education Jávea, Montserrat Villaverde.
During the ceremony the diplomas to the new graduates were delivered and guardians and retirees who have served 20 years were honored.
The director of the UNED Associated Center in Dénia, Raquel Martí, reiterated the social and structuring work that UNED carries out in the regions of the Marina Alta and Baja, with an innovative and permanent academic offer, where in addition to degrees and doctorates, a large number of university extension courses are taught in different municipalities. Martí underlined the UNED's firm commitment to Equality and thanked the involvement of all the actors (Provincial Council, Town Halls...) that make possible the sustainability of the Associated Center and its three classrooms in Dénia, Xàbia and Benidorm.
