The reopening of the High Street to traffic is imminent

May 23 from 2018 - 07: 16

The works on the outside of the house on San José Street are practically finished. Since last week, the workers have worked on the removal of the scaffolding that for several months have covered the facade of the house, thus clearing the stretch that joins Calle San José with Calle Mayor.

Municipal sources assure that the reopening of the main street to the traffic is imminent, in spite of the fact that the works are not yet finished. Of course, the removal of the scaffolds facilitates the movement of vehicles in this way, closed to traffic since the beginning of the works, in September of 2016.

In the next few days, the Local Police will work on the reordering of traffic in the area, where it was necessary to restrict the passage only to neighbors during the months that the work lasted.

Now, the zone will recover the habitual circulation, with access to the street San José from Pare Pere, being able to continue for the street Greater until the Valgamediós place.

After the completion of the renovation of the building, the works will now focus on the interior part. It is time to furnish all the rooms to convert the old headquarters of the Retired Home into a cultural center with Library, exhibition hall, assembly hall and part of the Municipal Archive. If everything goes according to plan, the new building will start functioning in the month of September.
