The regional swimming league organized by the CEMA, with the collaboration of the Town Halls of the Marina Alta and the entities that manage the swimming pools in said localities, will be held this Saturday, March 23, at the facilities of the Centro Deportivo Dénia.
The participating teams are Benissa, Poble Nou, Tonus-Vergel, Ondara, Pego, Aqualia-Denia and Pedreguer. The latter has joined the league this season. Among all they manage to gather more than 200 participants in the different tests that are disputed distributed in 2 calls: to the 16 hours categories, Benjamín and Prebenjamín and to the 17: 30 categories; alevín, infantil, cadet and juvenile.
Aqualia, the company that manages these sports facilities, is betting heavily on swimming, since this is one of the most complete and recommended sports to achieve a healthy life at any age.
Therefore, and knowing that promoting this sport at the base of society, children, Aqualia awards every year 10 scholarships to 10 students of their swimming courses to join the competition team for free during the rest of the season. For this, the Sports Center holds an internal championship every spring where students can demonstrate their progress.
The scholarships, valued at around 1.000 €, are intended "maintain good health, promoting sports and healthy habits among the youngest".
This initiative is encompassed within a framework of actions that the aqualia company carries out at the national level to promote sport and healthy habits. Aqualia, which manages more than 20 sports centers throughout Spain, also encourages competitive sports among children. For this reason, its Levante delegation organizes the Intercentros swimming competition year after year, which is accessed by more than 4.000 students from different towns in Alicante and Murcia and where more than 8.000 € is distributed in direct prizes for the participants.
The sports center also offers swimming courses for adults of different levels and specific activities such as aqua-gym, matron and act. aquatic for babies. In addition to this, it offers therapeutic swimming and has a specific department for sports rehabilitation and injury recovery.
