The Valencian Community adds 358 cases of coronavirus and 255 discharges in the last day

The Minister for Universal Health and Public Health, Ana Barceló, appeared at a press conference this Thursday to announce special measures to contain and prevent the coronavirus in the city of Valencia. These limitations affect the hospitality and nightlife, the family and social space, and nursing homes.

The changes, which will take effect from this Friday, are motivated by the evolution of infections in the city of Valencia, which has experienced an increase in outbreaks in recent weeks. Most outbreaks (97,8%) occur at the community level and almost half affect people between 15 and 34 years of age.

"As you know, there has been an increase in cases and, thanks to the work of the trackers, we have been able to detect where the outbreaks occurred and contain, as far as possible, their spread", explained the minister.

To advance in this containment and prevention, starting this Friday, the establishments and services of the hotel and restaurant industry must ensure the distance of 1,5 meters between people located at different tables, and the maximum occupancy will be 10 people per table or group. of tables. In addition, bars and restaurants must close at 1.30 am.

In hotels and tourist accommodation, common areas will have a limit of 60% of the maximum capacity. On the other hand, group activities will have a limit of 25 people.

In outdoor cultural activities, the capacity will be limited to 60% of the maximum capacity, and the mask will be mandatory, even if the distance of 1,5 meters is kept.

The discos, clubs and nightlife bars must close at 1.30 am. There may not be a dance floor, but tables can be placed with the required distance until reaching a limit of 60% of the maximum capacity.

The councilor has also announced that the bottle or collective consumption in public space will be declared an unhealthy situation.

The measures in the family and social sphere of a private nature go through setting a maximum of 15 people in family or friendship meetings.

Finally, in the area of ​​residences for the elderly, visits will be suspended, as well as the exits of residents, "always maintaining exceptions for health reasons or under medical criteria," explained the councilor.

However, Barceló has insisted that "these measures may be extended to other parts of the Valencian Community if the situation so requires".

The Valencian Community already has 1.210 tracker people

On the other hand, the councilor has highlighted the role of tracker people. In this sense, it has announced that the Valencian Community has already incorporated 1.210 tracking people who will be in charge of monitoring coronavirus cases.

"They are a key figure, since they are essential to detect infections and isolate them in time to prevent an outbreak from leading to a community transmission. They have a great responsibility, but the work depends above all on citizen collaboration," he stressed.

Daily update of coronavirus cases

During the appearance, he also updated the daily figures for the evolution of the pandemic. The Valencian Community has added in the last 24 hours 358 new cases of coronavirus, which put the total number of positives at 16.306 people. By provinces, the distribution is as follows: 28 in Castellón (2.020 in total); 84 in the province of Alicante (5.256 in total); and 246 in the province of Valencia (9.019 in total), to which 1 previous case has been reassigned. In addition, we must add another 11 unassigned cases from previous days.

On the other hand, 255 patients with coronavirus have been discharged, so that the total of people cured since the beginning of the pandemic amounts to 20.376: 2.841 in Castellón, 6.738 in Alicante and 10.765 in Valencia. There is also a cumulative of 32 unassigned registrations.

Thus, there are currently 2.650 cases active, representing 10,81% of the total positives.

Valencian hospitals currently have 201 people admitted: 6 in the province of Castellón, with no ICU patients; 52 in the province of Alicante, 7 of them in the ICU; and 143 in the province of Valencia, 13 of them in the ICU.

Of those hospitalized, today, 85% are over 35 years old and 39% are over 65 years old. Those under 34 years of age account for 15%.

In ICU, all those admitted are over 35 years old and 32% are over 65 years old.

No deaths from coronavirus have been registered since this Wednesday, so the total number of deaths remains at 1.486 people: 227 in the province of Castellón, 518 in that of Alicante and 741 in that of Valencia.

The total number of tests carried out for the detection of the coronavirus amounts to 670.168, of which 533.412 have been through PCR and 136.756 through rapid tests.

Updating the situation in residences

At the moment there are some positive cases in 20 nursing homes for the elderly (9 in the province of Alicante and 11 in the province of Valencia), 5 residences for people with functional diversity (1 in the province of Castellón, 2 in the province of Alicante and 2 in the province of Valencia) and 2 centers for minors in the province of Valencia.

Currently, 3 residences in the Valencian Community are under active surveillance of health control: 0 in the province of Castellón, 1 in the province of Alicante and 2 in the province of Valencia.
