The Addictive Behavior Community Prevention Unit (UPCCA) of the Department of Addiction Prevention yesterday launched the awareness campaign on the occasion of the World Day without Tobacco in the city's secondary schools and in all the public buildings of Dénia, the Xara and Jesus Poor.
The objective of this campaign, which this year had as its motto "No tobacco, you win!", is to educate and sensitize the student population regarding the harmful nature of tobacco, the effects and risks that consumption entails and, above all, to warn of the high risk of habituation and addiction that nicotine has.
Technical staff from the UPCCA, accompanied by volunteers, visited the institutes at patio time, setting up information stands and distributing material with information on the risks of tobacco. They also went to the CIPFP Gent de Mar to spread the campaign.
Educate on the benefits of not smoking
In this intervention, we have been in direct contact with the students who came to the stand, providing them with first-hand information, together with the corresponding leaflet and a bracelet with the inscription: May 31 – World No Tobacco Day. Taking advantage of this interaction, they talked to the young people about the risks of smoking and the advantages of not doing it or quitting. It must be said that the high degree of awareness they have regarding tobacco has been surprising and how they are able to recognize the harmful effects and the advantages of not smoking.
