The first year of ZAS Loreto Street has not managed to reduce noise levels

February 01 from 2019 - 09: 23

The declaration of Acoustically Saturated Zone in the Loreto street it has not managed to reduce the noise level in this pedestrian street in the center of Dénia one year after its commissioning. This is clear from the report by the City of Dénia and this was confirmed by the Councilor for Environment, Josep Crespo, in the plenary session held this Thursday afternoon.

In September of 2017 came into force this statement, which was intended to reduce the noise pollution of the street. To do this, traffic lights were installed to indicate the noise level, as well as informational mupis at the entrances to the road through the Avenida de Valencia and through the Plaza de la Constitución and sonometers that indicated the decibels at all times. To these awareness measures was added a new schedule of waste collection and street cleaning, starting at 7: 00 in the morning and not at dawn.

But, a year later, the street continues to present the same levels of noise and the ZAS will remain in force until achieving the marked objective, which involves improving the coexistence of the neighbors and the entertainment venues that are concentrated there.

After the result that is reflected in the report, the City is waiting to set a date for the commission that will gather neighbors and merchants in order to inform them of the situation and establish the lines to follow from now, including new measures to alleviate noise problems in one of the busiest roads in the city of Denia.
