The PP calls the state of the lighting in the Dénia sports facilities “unacceptable”

25 September 2023 - 13: 27

Councilman PP of Dénia assigned to sports issues, Juan Carlos Signes, has expressed concern about the state of the lighting towers in several sports facilities in the municipality. According to Signes, some of these towers only have one working spotlight, which could affect nighttime competitions and harm the clubs that use the courts.

The councilor has pointed out that this situation was already reported in a Sports information committee in August, and they were informed that the spotlights would be replaced with new ones as part of the improvements planned by the company in charge of maintaining public lighting. However, these improvements have not yet been carried out.

With the winter time change just around the corner, Signes warns that the lack of adequate lighting could seriously affect sports practice in these facilities. "This demonstrates the lack of planning by the sports department in recent years on the issue of municipal sports facilities, with a significant level of abandonment," said the popular councilor.

The council affirms that they are already working on the new lighting

However, the Dénia Esports Department defends that since the arrival of the new team, the main issue that was addressed was the lighting situation in the facilities, since it is the main demand of the clubs and schools.

«What we have done has been to speak with the company responsible for replacing the lighting in Dénia to include the sports facilities as a priority in the replacement actions, especially those most urgent such as the Diego Mena and the Joan Fuster Pavilion, where it has already been intervened," says the Esports councilor, Valen Alcala.

At the Diego Mena stadium the change has not been made because the material that was requested from the company a few weeks ago to replace the lights has not arrived. «As soon as we have that material, which we expect to happen in a few weeks, as has been reported by the City Council, the replacement will be carried out, as the CD Dénia and the rest of the schools that use these facilities," highlights the mayor.

It's just that they don't care. As long as they have their salary at the end of the month. The government of psoe and commitment does not lift a finger.

If they were frozen or their salaries were cut due to lack of work or due to their ineptitude, the government would work for the citizens.

They only know how to turn their backs on problems and promote tourism. Something that is done alone.
