The event "Diving for the environment" will remove waste from the sea in Dénia this weekend

02 June 2023 - 10: 25

The Dénia Town Hall has organized an underwater cleaning event this coming weekend called "Diving for the environment" which will consist of two days, Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 June. 50 volunteer workers from the INDRA company will participate in the activity. This non-profit activity, which the company carries out in different parts of Spain, such as Dénia or Formentera, aims to combat the degradation of our coasts.

The Maritime and Fisheries Environmental Service of the Dénia City Council has established the areas of action and has coordinated the activity, as well as the logistics of the event, in which the Dénia Fishermen's Association and the Pavasal company also participate. This year, the areas of action are the area for anchoring boats to the north of the port of Dénia, the beach Punta del Raset, Marineta Cassiana and the north and south breakwaters.

The base of the activity, which will take place in the morning from 09:00 a.m. to 13:00 p.m., has been established in the facilities of the fishermen's market in Dénia. On both Saturday and Sunday, divers will arrive at the fish market to deposit the collected waste on the seabed around 12 noon.

It should be remembered that last year, the volunteers removed two tons of garbage from the seabed of Dénia, part of which was used in the sculpture of the fish / waste of Rafa Cheli installed in the port.
