06 June 2019 - 10: 55

The dianense student Álvaro Pérez has managed to proclaim himself champion of his category in the IX Mental Calculus Championship of the Valencian Community held at the Caxton College of Puçol (Valencia).

To this appointment the best students in mental calculation of Castellón, Alicante and Valencia were summoned. The test consisted of 70 mathematical operations to be solved in a maximum time of 5 minutes. Álvaro managed to win in his category, and was not the only student of Dénia who achieved good results in this championship.

Sasha Guerrero was in second place and Arturo Lizón, Eva Gil and Iker Sebastiá finished third in their category.

Participants in this type of championships can not use calculators or paper and pencil to solve operations. The only way to solve the calculations is mentally, or at most, with the help of an abacus to visualize the operation.

This championship is organized by ALOHA Mental Arithmetic, an educational program present in more than 35 countries around the world and the only mental development program whose theoretical support has been endorsed by the Spanish Society of Pedagogy. Both the methodology and the didactic material used have received the recognition of quality of this institution, leader in the field of education and didactics.
