The Dénia Health Department implements a telemedicine pilot program for patients from the Heart Failure program

The Dénia Health Department implements a telemedicine pilot program at the Benissa Health Center for patients of the Heart Failure program, which will be extended to other health centers in the Marina Alta.

The program allows Primary Care physicians to make an early diagnosis of the intervention needs of patients. The images are stored in the patient's medical history and are subsequently reviewed by specialist cardiology physicians.

The program allows Primary Care physicians a greater resolution capacity, by including the cardiac image as a basic tool in the diagnostic suspicion or follow-up. The images are integrated into the patient's medical history and can be later reviewed by cardiology specialists.

Echocardiography facilitates the diagnosis, control and follow-up of patients with Heart Failure –IC-. To this end, Primary Care physicians have received specific training from the Hospital Cardiology service in the use and management of the transthoracic echocardiography technique.

For the Head of the Cardiology Service of the Hospital de Dénia, Dr. Alfonso Valle, the program has numerous benefits for patients: “It provides a greater capacity to the primary care physician to accelerate the diagnosis of HF and improves the control of patients already diagnosed, maintaining an immediate relationship with the service of Hospital cardiology ”. Likewise, the Director of the Dénia Health Department Assistance Network, Dr. Antonio Barceló, points out: “This program reinforces the diagnostic skills of Primary Care physicians in the field of heart failure and improves coordination between the different levels of care ”.
