The Dénia City Council puts out to tender the drafting of the city's Sustainable Tourist Mobility Plan

February 09 from 2024 - 10: 23

The Dénia City Council continues to advance in the development of the Destination Tourism Sustainability Plan (PSTD) of the city and this week it has approved, at the Government Board, to start the tender file for the technical assistance service for the drafting of the Mobility Plan Sustainable Tourism of Dénia, one of the 13 actions included in the Plan.

The PSTD is a program whose objective is the transformation of tourist destinations towards a model based on environmental, socioeconomic and territorial sustainability, with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) as its axis. The execution of the actions contemplated will be financed entirely by Next Generation EU funds, within the extraordinary call for 2021, with a total budget of 3 million euros.

This initiative will include the set of actions that aim to implement more sustainable forms of travel (walking, cycling, car sharing, personal mobility vehicles and public transport) within a city; that is, "of modes of transport that make sustainable economic growth, social cohesion and the defense of the environment compatible, thus guaranteeing a better quality of life for citizens," as they indicate.

In this way, the aim is to reduce the environmental impact and energy consumption through works that are put out to tender for a base budget of 74.463,50 euros (VAT included) and that will be carried out in three phases.

Phases of the Tourism Sustainability Plan in Destination

A first in which data will be collected and a computerized base will be created with information on mobility, traffic, road network, parking, public, goods and tourist transport, among others. Based on this information, an analysis and diagnosis of the current situation regarding mobility in Dénia will be carried out.

The second phase is the preparation of the Sustainable Mobility Plan, which will contain, at least, these sections: a road and circulation planning program; parking alternatives; improvements and use of alternative energies in public transportation; promotion and improvement of non-motorized travel and measures to achieve sustainable mobility objectives.

The last phase is the implementation of the plan. Here, the winning company must promote and manage the Dénia Sustainable Tourist Mobility Plan; monitor all sustainable mobility projects that already exist or are being launched and evaluate their execution. The contract will have a duration of 12 months distributed in the annuities 2024 and 2025.

I find these topics spectacular, but they do not consider people with reduced mobility, wheelchairs, do not forget that Dénia has a high percentage of elderly people, worry about curbs, ramps in restaurants and toilets for wheelchairs... tourism in addition to Being an example of the environment must be inclusive…

Translation: They will write a supposed plan, to later distribute the 3 million. Mass tourism and sustainability are incompatible, with or without bicycles.

    Public transport in Dénia?
Out of curiosity, the cool people at City Hall know where they circulate.
No, and logically, it doesn't work. A shame.
Another thing, to control the disaster of bicycle circulation and especially the dangerous electric scooters on the sidewalks. The best sustainable mobility is to walk calmly on the sidewalks

  4. Paloma says:

Sustainable is cycling! For this, more bike lanes are needed, maintaining the few that exist, more parking for bikes and among them with the possibility of recharging for electric bikes!
    When?????

  5. Pepa says:

Parking alternatives within the city? Let me doubt it!
Regarding public transport Denia/Rotes/Marines it does not always work as it should.
