Nine days after the new and provisional Dénia bus station went into operation, the government team has responded to criticism for the size and functionality of this infrastructure carried out under the Plan Confianza.
The Mayor of Dénia, Vicent Grimalt, and the councilor of territory, Maria Josep Ripoll, they have recognized that these days they have been able to verify that "the station works but the result is not satisfactory". That is why they have asked "Public apologies to affected users" and they have announced a series of improvement works to make this station "the one that citizens deserve".
Last Monday they had a meeting with the project editors, the municipal technicians and the transporters that operate in the station to know the different points of view. From this meeting, the need to expand the enclosure, both the entrance and the amplitude, was extracted. The plot has a size greater than the 2.000 square meters, so there is room to make that extension.
To face the expense of this improvement, which the mayor considers that "will not be elevated", the City Council will resort to supramunicipal subsidies with the aim of not costing money to the municipal coffers. Now the efforts are focused on budgeting the works and looking for financing.
But in addition to this extension, the first days of operation of the station have served to verify that it is necessary a regulation of uses of the station through which to assign platforms to the different companies that operate there and distribute in a clear way the available space . Also, from the City Council they have confirmed that the "0 Platform", outside the station, will be maintained for quick bus stops at the request of the drivers themselves.
In addition, a series of improvements will be carried out, already planned, such as the waiting windscreen, new banks and litter bins and tree replacement.

The mayor has lamented that a "political campaign" has been orchestrated following the start-up of the station, and has denounced that "criticism has been lacking in truth in some cases." Even so, he affirmed that "this government team has a clear road map" and that "by seven months the image of Dénia will have changed radically" with the completion of all the works that are currently underway.
Grimalt has remarked on several occasions that they do not hide and that their intention is to "Remedy with the necessary measures to improve the season day by day".
It is better that the team that made this project does not touch any more. Where are the resignations? They should resign en bloc by inept. But that will never happen. The day that a public official can be fired for wasting public money in this way we will begin to evolve in this Country.
A whole group of people already announced that the works were not going well but they did not want to listen. Now reality explodes in their faces and they talk about asking for more subsidies ... for some things there is money and for others there is not.
