17 March 2024 - 10: 06

Agents of the National Police have arrested a woman in the town of Dénia who was subject to a European Arrest Warrant for Extradition by France for the crime of kidnapping a minor. The agents, belonging to the Citizen Security Brigade of the National Police Station in Dénia, were aware of the accommodation in a hotel in the area of a woman who had an extradition order issued by France.

When the agents arrived at the hotel room, she was accompanied by her 11-year-old son. There was a European notice on the minor, also issued by France, for 'Protection of Missing Minors'. The defendant was arrested, and the minor was temporarily transferred for protection purposes to the National Police Station in Dénia.

Once there, the appropriate arrangements were made with the Alicante Guard Juvenile Prosecutor's Office to place the child in a juvenile center, where the caregivers would take temporary care of him.

The French authorities had requested the arrest of this woman since apparently she had not sent her son to school. Added to this was the fact that she had changed her address up to four times in a few months, and the person may have suffered from some type of mental disorder and, all of this, without the other parent's knowledge of the child's whereabouts.

The crime allegedly committed by this woman carries a sentence of up to three years in the neighboring country. The detainee, a 44-year-old French woman, was placed at the disposal of the Dénia Guard Investigating Court as provided by the Madrid Guard Central Investigating Court.
