Dénia requests authorization from the Department of Transport to reinforce the taxi service in summer

The Dénia City Council has approved today in plenary session, with the favorable votes of PSPV, Compromís, Vox and Gent of Dénia and the abstention from Party, request from the Department of Transport, Territorial Service of Alicante, authorization to reinforce the taxi service during the summer with the collaboration of professionals from other municipalities of the Marina Alta.

The city council will request authorization for the joint provision of the service, introducing two new features compared to last year. On the one hand, the reinforcement period is extended, this 2024 being set from July 1 to September 15 (in 2023 it ended on August 31). In addition, this year's proposal includes seven towns in the region, two more than in 2023. These towns are El Verger, Els Poblets, Ondara, Pedreguer, Xàbia and, now also, Gata, "for the service between Jesús Pobre and Dénia", and Pego, to cover the Monte Pego area, as indicated by the Councilor for Citizen Security, Javier Scotto.

Social fund for the payment of water bills

All municipal groups have unanimously approved to sign again an annual collaboration agreement between the Dénia City Council and Aqualia, the concessionaire of the City's water management service, for the creation of a social fund of 20.000 euros intended to help families in situations of social and economic vulnerability in the payment of water bills, and can also be used to pay for supply charges. The duration of the agreement is one year from its signature by both parties.

The management protocol for the application of this social fund establishes that the Social Services, based on the list of unpaid bills sent monthly by Aqualia, will determine, after studying the cases, the receipts that must be paid through the social fund and will notify to the concessionaire the contract details so that the outstanding amount can be paid from the social fund. Aqualia, for its part, will inform Social Services each time it applies the payment of any pending invoice to this fund so that they can keep records of the cases.

'Plens de vida' program

In the emergency section, the signing of a collaboration agreement with CaixaBank for the development of the Plens de vida program has been unanimously approved, an initiative that aims to contribute “to the personal growth and development of a full life for older people.” , favoring active aging”, pointed out the Mayor's councillor, Marta Gasco.

The program is articulated in a series of free workshops aimed at people over 60 years of age and focused on two areas: health and prevention of frailty, promoting the autonomy of older people, and the promotion of digital skills among this sector of the population. population. It is planned, as indicated by Gascó, that the workshops will take place in the months of May and June.

In the field of health, the “Entrena” workshops will be taught, of a more theoretical nature and aimed at older people who want to maintain their personal autonomy, with mild or moderate dependence; "Fit! 1", aimed at older people in good physical and cognitive condition who want to stay active by practicing physical exercise; "Feed your well-being", in which you will learn about guidelines and habits for having a healthy diet; and "Activate", a workshop in which we will learn about the effects of aging on our brain and how to differentiate them from the effects of a disease.

In the area of ​​digital skills, a workshop will be given on the WhatsApp application. The content and teaching materials of the workshops will be provided by Fundación La Caixa and the Department of the Elderly will be in charge of facilitating the facilities and managing registrations.
