November 09 from 2020 - 14: 51

For the first time, four Creative Cities of Gastronomy of the UNESCO network have promoted a joint master's degree to study the future of cities and their food sources. The European cities of Parma (Italy), Bergen (Norway), Östersund (Sweden) and Dénia have been involved in the master, as well as the reference universities of each of them, in the case of Dénia, the Universitat d'Alacant through Gasterra (Mediterranean Gastronomy Center). The master's degree was presented this Monday and in this first edition it will be fully funded by the University of Parma and the Italian region of Emilia-Romagna.

With the generic title Food City Design, the master's degree will focus on promoting local food chains as an essential element of the sustainable future of cities. The program and the contents have been prepared by the School of Advanced Studies in Food and Nutrition of the University of Parma, and it is scheduled to start on January 21, 2021. Its duration will be one year and will assign 60 ECTS credits.

The course will be taught in person for six weeks at the University of Parma and the rest of the training, of a practical nature, can be followed in the universities of the student's preference among the four integrated in the master's degree: Universitat d'Alacant, University of Bergen ( Norway), Mid Sweden University (Sweden) and the University of Parma (Italy). The driving cities are in contact with other universities that could be added in the coming weeks.

The only requirement to take the master is to hold a bachelor's or university degree. Enrollment is completely free, 100% funded by the city and the University of Parma and the Emilia-Romagna region. Students will only have to pay for the expenses of the transfer and the stay in the Italian city during the weeks of face-to-face theoretical classes. The vehicular language of the course will be English.
