Dénia joins the Spanish network of congress cities

10 June 2022 - 19: 03

The Annual Assembly of the Spain Convention Bureau, a section of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP) specializing in MICE tourism (congresses, meetings and incentives), today announced the admission of Dénia, which is joining this network together with the cities of Cullera, Jerez and Logroño, new members as well.

Mayor and Councilor for Tourism, Vicent Grimalt, has made this morning before the assembly its defense of the candidacy of the city, whose adhesion to the Spain Convention Bureau was requested by the city council last March, within the strategy of promoting congress tourism, currently booming in Dénia, which already has more than 3.000 seats for holding meetings and small conferences; strategy that in turn is part of the tourist deseasonalization actions.

In his speech before the assembly of the Spain Convention Bureau, which took place in A Coruña, within the framework of the Meeting on Meeting Tourism, the mayor of Dénia highlighted the already consolidated tourist offer of the city, as a holiday, gastronomic and experiential, as one more incentive to also achieve a good "positioning in this market niche of the MICE product, meeting tourism, incentives and small congresses, offering a comprehensive experience".

The location of Dénia and its offer, key

Also contributing to this, Grimalt added, is the city's location, "one hour from Valencia and Alicante airports; a wide range of tourist accommodation, with 25.000 beds; and being a UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy since 2015, with a total of 457 restaurants and more than 18.000 seats available to those who visit us".

For this reason, in Dénia's long and consolidated history as a reference holiday destination, the efforts and wills shared by the city's public and private sectors "have led us to evolve and want to be part of this professional network of 53 Spanish cities of congresses".

Adherence to the Spain Convention Bureau facilitates the promotion of congress destinations as well as the training and exchange of lines of innovation and good practices in meeting tourism. Also, in collaboration with the Spanish Tourism Institute (TURESPAÑA) and the respective Foreign Tourist Offices (OET), the Spain Convention Bureau regularly organizes international promotion activities.
