Dénia against night violence: review of licenses, offer alternatives and coeducation

03 September 2022 - 09: 00

During the last weeks, Dénia has experienced a succession of violent situations in its streets. Fights, arguments, shouting... The nights seem restless, especially in the city center. But is this new? What is being done to fix it?

It doesn't matter what day it is, during the summer, when night falls, it's a lottery. Will you be able to sleep today or not? The atmosphere that is breathed near the leisure areas is sometimes unbearable, with too many young people sweating testosterone sharing spaces, and in a context where the consumption of alcohol and other substances is common.

It seems that no week goes by without an assault being made known. In the middle of it, several media echoed the complaint of a mother after her son received a violent beating on Colón street after a night out. Likewise, yesterday we published in Dénia.com another similar case in Glorieta happened the week before, where a group attacked another young man lying on the ground.

Is there more violence than other years?

But you're not seeing anything that hasn't been seen before. We have contacted the Councilor for Citizen Protection, Javier Scotto, who has assured that "no more insecurity has been detected than in other years." According to the mayor, this type of behavior, totally reprehensible, is unfortunately common in leisure areas. And now it seems that there is an increase for the simple fact that there are more people. Although the majority of the consumers of the clients of discos and pubs do not participate in any altercation of this nature, also since there are more people it is logical that there are more cases.

In addition, we must add the fact that in the summer period nightlife is very active, practically every day of the week, and is not limited to weekends as in winter. This generates that feeling of not having rest for the neighborhood.

Acts that are no longer limited to the doors of the premises

The street that has suffered the most from these behaviors for some time is Marqués de Campo, which is why a reinforcement of surveillance and security was carried out in these areas during the summer, as announced from the City Council, the Local Police and the National Police a few months ago. Likewise, security was increased in private establishments to collaborate, as indicated.

However, it is not possible to get everywhere and the fights seem to have moved away from the gates to spread through the streets adjacent to Marqués de Campo. Colón, La Vía, Patricio Ferrándiz, La Mar, Glorieta... The area in which these acts take place is too extensive and difficult to control.

Reduce violence by reviewing nightlife offers and offering alternatives

Of course, the City Council, according to Scotto, is studying taking measures to stop this violence. On the one hand, he points out that "activity licenses of premises linked to these events will be reviewed." On the other, the council assumes that alternative leisure offers should be presented for young people and make the nightlife healthier.

For this, a nightlife commission will be created, in order to work together with the companies themselves and promote co-education between citizens and members. Until then, there is the relief of thinking that in the coming months there will be five nights a week off.

Why so much shit regulations? and if they are pretty girls… I have seen local policemen going two on the same skateboard to greet them??… especially at the red cross roundabout… that is if they see a vehicle that has stopped for a few minutes to buy the newspaper they are already like fucking hysterics faking them with a bad tone... that they can't even stop... which shows that they are not at the service of the citizen but that they have become little fucking Nazi uniforms full of symbols and flourishes... and another thing you hear them speak in Valencian among themselves... then they go to you in Spanish..??? perhaps pir this they think they have more authorities….??? Psychologists say so, the effect is the opposite and people in general become defensive... if they speak to you in your language they can get all the information possible... (perhaps). In the end, you no longer trust them, they are arrogant little uniforms...

But they have been going on for a long time now and they do nothing to stop them.

But what environments have you grown up and lived in when you consider them habitual? And because they are "usual" according to him, do we have to give it a wide berth? Normalizing violence and insecurity? Perhaps they attacked the boys when they shouted "faggot" ... So would it be different for Javier Scotto? Would he put on some kind of "performance" asking for respect and forceful measures against homophobic aggression? This situation is like this because the City Council wants and supports them with their laziness.

The violence in the center of Denia is continuous, avalanches of 14-year-old children who leave the Condado nightclub drugged and heavily drunk, but the police stay at the door while they empty the nightclub, due to the fights so big that they get involved when They all go out, during the whole of last winter, you fight every weekend and they see the state of youth, and they do not put any remedy, girls so young drunk, they start having sex anywhere on the street without any shame! Let them go into the county undercover and see how alcohol is served to 14 year olds!! Someone will be behind to see what they are seeing and do nothing about it!! And less recording, and having more balls to go down to help the boy, or to see him shouted that they are recording him and that they will run, but some help!! Not just record while they could have tied him up with those blows to the head!! ???

Before it was a pleasure to walk around Denia at night, sit down and dine in Marques de Campo or Calle Loreto, now not anymore. It all started with the Condado Room. A single Discotheque is destroying the good atmosphere and the nightlife of responsible people, civic, families and those quality tourists that they like to advertise so much. Not to mention the poor neighbors whom the City Council disrespects and violates their rights every night for allowing all this social decline caused by a single establishment. Yourselves.

Perfect. Bravo. Whether it's the violence at night or the state of cleanliness of the city, and everything not only in the center but already a kilometer away.
